Poas Volcano National Park

The main crater of Poas Volcano is one of the largest in the world, with a circumference of 1320 m and a depth of 320 m.  Reservations are mandatory since only a small number of people are allowed to enter the park at any given time as a precaution to allow for evacuation in case of  an immanent eruption or an elevated release of sulfuric gases from the crater's lagoon.
